The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the recruitment of 650 candidates for the post of RBI Assistant for the year 2026. The notification was released on 16 February 2026 and the online application window is open from 16 February to 8 March 2026. Candidates must be Indian citizens, have a bachelor’s degree in any stream with at least 50% marks, and must have studied a local language in their Class‑10 (Matriculation) exam. The age limit is 20 to 28 years as on 1 February 2026, with relaxations for SC, ST, OBC, PH and women candidates as per government rules. The application fee is Rs. 450 for General/OBC/EWS and women candidates, and Rs. 50 for SC/ST and PH candidates. The fee can be paid only online. The first stage of the selection process – Phase‑I (online) – will be held on 11 April 2026, followed by Phase‑II (online) on 7 June 2026. Candidates who clear both written stages will be called for a Language Proficiency Test. Successful candidates will be appointed as RBI Assistants in various departments of the bank and will receive good salary with attractive allowances and benefits. 3. Language Proficiency Test (LPT)

The selection process consists of three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and a Language Proficiency Test (LPT). The Preliminary Exam is an objective test with 100 questions for 100 marks, covering English Language (30 questions), Numerical Ability (35 questions), and Reasoning Ability (35 questions), to be completed in 60 minutes. Candidates who qualify move to the Main Examination, which includes 200 objective questions for 200 marks across five sections: Reasoning, English Language, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, and Computer Knowledge, with a total duration of 135 minutes. Those shortlisted from the Main Exam must then appear for the Language Proficiency Test, conducted in the official or local language of the concerned state to assess their language skills.
RBI Assistants work under the supervision of senior officers in various departments such as Accounts, Human Resources, Legal, Information Technology, and Operations. Their duties include handling cash and cheque transactions, maintaining records, preparing reports, assisting in the implementation of RBI policies, responding to public queries, and performing clerical work. They may also be involved in data entry, filing, and basic accounting tasks. The role offers exposure to the functioning of the central bank and provides opportunities for career growth within RBI.

3. Register using a valid email address and create a password.
4. Fill in personal details, educational qualifications, and contact information.
5. Upload the required documents (photo, signature, certificates) in the specified format and size.
6. Review all entered information carefully.
7. Pay the examination fee (Rs. 450 for General/OBC/EWS/women, Rs. 50 for SC/ST/PH) through the online payment gateway (credit/debit card, net banking, or UPI).
8. After successful payment, submit the application.
